The first snow fall of the year here in Cary, NC.

We got some good news near the end of the year – our well driller found water. After digging about 300 feet, he had a flow rate of 2 gallons per minute. After digging another 250 or so feet, we still had 2 gallons per minute but now have a 700+ gallon holding area in the well shaft. With that flow rate and reserve, we have plenty of water for our cabin and a future house on our land in Floyd County, VA.

Now that we have water, we can move forward on our plans to build a 500-600 square foot cabin on our property. There is more driveway to ready, a septic system to install, electricity/phone service to trench, foundation to excavate and pour, cabin shell to build, interior work to do, and lots of permits and inspections to pass before we will have our little cabin in the woods. But we are on the way.
