A Thespian Logician

Monday, January 31st, 2005

I saw this license tab in a parking lot a few days ago. This just goes to show that many theater folks are geeks!

BTW: this is my first time doing photoblogging. I took the photo with my camera phone, emailed it to myself, uploaded the photo to my web site and then posted about it. I’m not sure if there is an easier way to do this — I’ll have to investigate.

License plate game web resource

Friday, January 28th, 2005

Greg infected us with this game. I don’t know if there is an official name but the basic purpose is to “collect” all the US license plates in a year. The first of a group to get them all wins.

I’ve often wanted help with recognizing a strange tag when I couldn’t quite read the state name (maybe because the owner put one of those annoying tag holders that covers part of the tag). Well, I found this page that contains License Plates of the United States of America. Enjoy!

Darn fine coffee!

Thursday, January 27th, 2005

I’ve discovered some “darn” fine coffee made by Larry’s Beans. You can buy the coffee by the bean or by the cup at some local coffee shops. To find the nearest place see their “Where to find it” page (I like the Java Jive at 203 E. Chatham in Cary – on my way to work!). This coffee is fair trade, meaning that the growers get more of your money for the fine job they do growing some of the best coffee in the world.

One remote to rule them all

Wednesday, January 26th, 2005

Logitech has come up with a new remote control concept called the Harmony 676 remote. This remote has a USB port and you use software to tell the remote what kind of equipment you have and it programs the remote for you. That way there are no key-codes to type in or learning steps to go through.

There are lots of one-buttons functions like “watch a DVD” (that will turn on your reveiver, TV, DVD Player, etc. I don’t have one of the nifty remotes but saw the TiVo info-blub the other day. Check it out at http://www.logitech.com/remote. BTW, they are giving away 100 per day if you will give them your name, address, phone number, and email.
